NEUROMODULATORS
The most common cosmetic procedure performed is neuromodulators, i.e. Botox and Dysport. These products are frequently used to soften the lines between your brows, on the forehead and around the eyes. They are also used to slim the face (masseter injections), reduce platysmal bands in the neck, help with dimpled look on chin (peau d'orange), and reduce sweating (hyperhidrosis). Results take 10-14 days after treatment and can last 3-4 months.
LASER RESURFACING
Laser resurfacing devices use heat energy to stimulate new collagen formation which can help improve the texture of the skin. A series of treatments are recommended spaced every four to six weeks. I currently use a non-ablative fractional laser for laser resurfacing - Lumenis ResurFX. Non-ablative means the skin is not broken, therefore there is minimal downtime to the procedure.
ULTHERAPY
Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy (high-frequency sound waves) to trigger new collagen and elastin formation which can lift and tighten the skin. Results are gradual and appear over three to six months. It is not a replacement for a facelift. Common areas to treat are the lower face/submental area, neck and brow.
COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, uses a device which creates micro-injuries to stimulate the skin’s wound healing process. It is commonly used for acne scars, but can also help to improve the overall texture of the skin. Treatments are usually recommended in a series of three and there is little downtime.
DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers are used to restore volume, help fix asymmetries or can be used to augment features, such as the lips. Hylauronic Acid (HA) filler is the most common dermal filler. Brands include Juvederm and Restylane. Another dermal filler, Sculptra, is a biostimulatory agent made from Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). When used, it produces gradual volume restoration to correct bony and soft tissue volume loss.
IPL/PHOTOFACIAL
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) uses light based energy to target pigment (brown spots) or redness of the skin. It is a great treatment for improvement of sun damaged skin, redness associated with rosacea or for broken blood vessels (telangiectasia). A series of treatments are recommended spaced every four to six weeks. I currently use the Lumenis M22 IPL photo-rejuvenation device.
KYBELLA
Kybella, or deoxycholic acid is a fat dissolving medication which is used to improve submental fullness (i.e. double chin). Deoxycholic acid is naturally occurring in the digestive tract and is responsible for breaking down fat in the foods we eat. The number of sessions required varies on the amount of fat present and response to therapy.
PRP SKIN & HAIR REJUVENATION
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment consists of harvesting PRP from your own blood and injecting it into the skin or scalp. The concentrated plasma contains platelets and growth factors which are used for skin rejuvenation or hair restoration. A series of treatments is most effective for restoration of healthy skin or hair growth.
